Physician Profile
Dan
Rossignol, MD
Dan Rossignol, MD, a Defeat Autism
Now! (DAN!) physician has been part of the
International Child Development Resource Center (ICDRC)
in Florida, had previously worked as a Clinical
Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia
Department of Family Medicine. He received his
Doctorate of medicine at the Medical College of
Virginia and completed his residency in family
medicine at the University of Virginia. He is the
father of two children with autism, ages five and
three.
One of his clinical interests is the
use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in neurodevelopment
disorders including autism. Dr. Rossignol and Lanier
Rossignol, Dr. Rossignol’s wife, who is a family
nurse practitioner and who is involved heavily with
the research, authored the study entitled,
“Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy May Improve Symptoms In
Autistic Children,” published in Medical Hypothesis.
Another study was completed in May 2006, which was a
trial on 18 children using hyperbaric oxygen
therapy, and a placebo controlled trial sponsored by
the International Hyperbarics Association, Inc. The
Rossignols have been and will continue to be
involved with research in the future and are in the
planning stages for several other research studies.
Kyle Van Dyke, MD
Dr. Kyle Van Dyke MD is a board certified family
physician who became involved in autism when his son
Ryan was diagnosed in 2004. He graduated from the
University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine
and did his residency at the University of Virginia.
He has worked with Dr. Elizabeth Mumper (Medical
Director of DAN!) at the Advocates for Children
Clinic (now the Rimland Center) since September
2005. He has special interest in GI issues, diet,
HBOT, mitochondrial dysfunction and treating medical
problems of family members of affected children. He
has also completed The Institute for Functional
Medicine's clinician training course, applying
similar principles used in treating autism to
complex chronic conditions in adults.
Dr. Kyle Van Dyke focuses on treating children
with special needs and their family members;
approaching each person as an individual, not as a
label. Dr. Van Dyke listens and fully understands
the importance of parent/patient insight and
direction. A team approach toward each patients'
journey is emphasized. The parent, child, and doctor
form the core team. Dr. Van Dyke bases his approach
on scientifically sound biochemical processes. Dr.
Van Dyke is the kind of doctor that will make you
feel comfortable enough to discuss all issues and
concerns while motivating you to continue to seek
answers and progress.
Dr. Kyle Van Dyke also draws from his experience
as a father. From the diagnosis denial through the
toll of diet and supplements, the Van Dyke family
has grown and learned. Ryan has made enormous
progress using the Defeat Autism Now approach! The
rest of the Van Dyke family includes Annette (a
pharmacist) and daughter, Kylie. As a family, the
Van Dyke's enjoy traveling, parks, and playing with
trains.
